(bottled in January of 2009) Aromas of redcurrant, plum and tobacco. Juicy and fairly intense, privileging spices, bitter chocolate and soil tones over primary fruit. Finishes with a firm tannic spine for village wine.

Good deep red with ruby highlights. Dark berries and smoke on the nose. Sweet and intense, with dark fruit and floral flavors joined by a late note of bitter chocolate. A serious village wine with a firm backbone and good length.

Rather occluded on the nose. Certainly rich and dense, but very, very sweet on the palate. Quite a cool finish. Tannins more real and obvious than many. (JR)
