Score 87+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2010

Bright medium red. Pure, reticent nose hints at flowers. Broader and more serious than the Charmois, showing a restrained sweetness and a solid tannic spine and good grip. This needs a year or two in the bottle.

Medium red. Cassis, violet and a note of smoked meat on the rather wild nose. Not especially dense but suave, with more energy and floral lift than the Charmois. Offers a seductive fruity quality and more length than the Charmois.

Scented and intense fruit on the nose, Fine tannins – pretty ambitious and wild compared with some. A hint of orange peel adds interest.Busy doing gymnastics, this wine! (JR)
