2006 Chambolle Musigny Les Charmes

(50% new oak; the village wines here get just 10%) Good bright red-ruby. Pure black raspberry aroma lifted by violet. Supple on entry, then youthfully tight, with enticing black cherry and dark raspberry fruit enlivened by floral and spicy nuances. Finishes with good spicy persistence, but today this shows some apparent dusty oak tannins. (ST)

Moderate though not intrusive wood frames really lovely and relatively high-toned red pinot fruit nuanced with hints of underbrush and warm earth that continue onto the pure, refined, sweet and detailed medium-bodied flavors that possess first rate balance and fine finishing precision on the linear and dusty finale. I quite like this as it's a wine of harmony and like all of these '06s, possesses excellent transparency of the underlying terroir.
