Score 90/100 · Drink 2013-2019, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Aug 2013

The 2011 Chianti Classico is easily one of the best wines of the year. The aromas and flavors are quite dark, yet there is more than enough minerality from hillside sites to offer balance and energy. Hints of tobacco and sweet flowers add lift as the wine opens up in the glass. Readers are likely to find the 2011 utterly irresistible. The 2011 is 100% Sangiovese done in cement.
