Score 88/100 · Drink 2019-2026, Neal Martin, Mar 2019

The 1964 Suduiraut is an unusual, rarely seen vintage. Indeed, Yquem did not declare this year although this is in fact my second encounter with this particular wine. Like the 1965 it shows that you should never write anything off. There remains freshness on the nose with orange rind, clove, some dried fig and marmalade scents. The palate offers moderate depth. There is a fine line of acidity and whilst it lacks a little precision towards the finish, there is decent length with a tang of quince and salinity on the finish. 79gm/L residual sugar, 13.6% alcohol and 4.13gm/L acidity. Tasted at the Suduiraut vertical at the château.
