1991 Churchill

Deep black-brown. Meat and stony, smoky mineral notes. Good weight of jammy blackberry and raspberry, with quite marked tannins. Not the longest vintage port in history, but it certainly has the structure and style, and would likely merit a little more cellaring. (TJ)

Churchill's 1991 Vintage Port is a milder-mannered, less concentrated and less impressive port than their single vineyard 1992 Agua Alta offering. The 1991 Vintage is a medium weight, dry, streamlined port with an excellent black fruit character, as well as fine purity and richness. Wonderful violets, berries and flowers on the nose. Full-bodied, sweet and round, with a velvety texture and a long finish. Already lovely. '91/'92 Port retrospective. Best after 2006. 3,600 cases made. – James Suckling , Wine Spectator 2005
