Licorice and berry aromas follow through to a medium body, with chewy tannins that turn a little dry

Tasted at Vintex. Good fruit concentration on the nose: blackberry, plum, bilberry and a touch of oyster shell. It seems a little “forced” at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, slightly rustic tannins, sharp blackberry fruits, showing more cohesion and class towards the finish. Moderate length. Fine. Tasted March 2010.

Very dark. Some succulence on the nose and lots or dry minerals but this seems like a terroir effect rather than winemaker meddling. Good appetising build – more St Estèphe than 2009 opulence but very appetising and savoury.
