This blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot offers a gorgeous bouquet of graphite, asphalt, cola, black currants and plums. Good acidity provides vibrancy and freshness to this well-endowed, attractive, medium-bodied sleeper of the vintage. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.

55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot. Gravel on clay. Colour of elderberry juice. Very ripe fruit, a bit figgy. Then a little bit flat on the palate. Just enough acidity but the overall effect, with rather chalky tannins, is a bit flat and lacking energy. (JH)
70% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Sémillon. Very pale lemon. Attractively ripe citrus and pear fruit with a touch of orange and a suggestion of creaminess. Plenty of freshness even with such ripe – almost tropical – fruit flavours. Mealy oak flavour and fine-grained texture can't keep the exuberant fruit down. Flavourful and immediate. (JH)
