The 2011 Château de Fieuzal has an attractive, mulberry and rose petal scented nose, touches of smoke and tobacco emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, quite savoury in style, slightly drying towards the finish that suggests this should be drunk in the not too distant future. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting.

Sweet ripe damson fruit with oak spice and dark chocolate. Rather flattering if a little sweet. Firm, deeply chewy on the palate but there's fruit in the middle. Slightly bitter on the finish. (JH)
About the producer
Named after the Fieuzal family who owned this estate until 1851, today Ch. de Fieuzal is owned by the Quinns. Since their arrival in 2001, the Irish family has restored the property and built its reputation for quality.
