Score 88/100 · Drink 2013-2020, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Dec 2013

Clean, classic and mid-weight aromas and flavors of blackberry, raspberry, spring flowers and powdered rock, the 2011 Saint Joseph Clos de Cuminaille is medium-bodied, juicy and nicely focused. It’s a classic Syrah to drink over the coming 5-7 years. This was a large lineup by producer Pierre Gaillard. The wines all have a classic, fresh and focused feel, and certainly, those looking for big textures and loads of fruit should look elsewhere. Importer: AP Wine Imports, New York, NY; tel. 100% Syrah. Toasty, ripe black pepper nose. Much richer and plumper than the regular St-Joseph. But a bit less vital. Oak suppresses the fruit a bit? (JR)
