Tasting notes
Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

Tasted blind at Flint Wines’ 2007/2012 Nuits Saint-Georges tasting in London. The 2012 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Thorey from Domaine de Montille has a potent and powerful, again slightly bretty bouquet, animally and rather feral. The palate is medium-bodied with rather dull red berry fruit subdued by some brettanomyces; as a consequence, the finish is deprived of real detail. This was outstanding out of barrel, so I will refrain from scoring this and seek to re-taste it at a later date. Tasted November 2016.

(100% vendange entier; tasted from stainless steel tank): Bright medium red. Sexy aromas of red cherry, red berries and spices, with a hint of more exotic fruits. Broad, fat and silky, in a rather gentle style. Plenty of soil tones here but fruity more than saline. Finishes with succulent, spicy, fine-grained tannins and very good length.
