Score 90/100 · Drink 2001-2011, Robert Parker, Oct 2001

An earthy concoction of herbs, leather, cedar, spice box, and black cherry/plum-like fruit offers an enticing introduction to the 1998 Barbaresco Vigna Lunetta-Pajore. Supple-textured and seemingly low in acidity, with admirable density, excellent purity, and a fleshy finish, it will drink well for a decade. Full deep red. Vibrant, fruit-driven aromas of cherry, raspberry, dried rose and menthol; cool and perfumed. Then dense and lush in the mouth, though rather unforthcoming, even a bit clenched, today. Finishes with substantial palate-dusting tannins. Will need a few years to blossom in bottle.
