Pale ruby. Light but seductively perfumed. Lots of energy and life in here. Already charming even if the acidity seems strangely low. Lots to like here. There's just a slightly bitter note on the end. (JR)

The 2008 Nuits St. Georges Aux Boudots is a dark, mysterious wine laced with wild cherries, flowers and menthol. Supple and harmonious, the Boudots impresses for its elegance and sheer class. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2028. This is a gorgeous set of wines from Etienne and Marielle Grivot that captures the essence of several of Vosne’s most illustrious vineyards. Grivot encourages slow malos and leaves the wines on the lees for approximately 15 months after the vinification. New oak ranges from 15-20% for the villages, 30-50% for the 1ers and 40-70% for the grands crus. Based on the wines I tasted 2009 looks like a much more consistent vintage than 2008. The finest 2008s are also well worth considering, but there are more highs and lows, especially in the entry part of the range. Importer: Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, Napa CA; tel. (707) 299-2600

Good bright medium red. Wild berries, herbs and spices on the nose, plus hints of blood orange and savory earthy scents. Silky on entry, then much tougher in the middle and less sweet than the Beaux Monts, showing less floral lift. A more muscular style of wine, with strong iron and saline traces. Give this at least five years of cellaring.

Light crimson. Quite complex nose. Juicy, fruity, very lively. Lots of vitality. Fresh. A real bouquet of wild flowers here. Bravo! (JR)
