Tasting notes
Dark red. Dark currant, leather and a balsamic quality on the rather rustic nose. Boasts good size and sweetness but the leathery quality carries through to the finish, combining with slightly elevated acidity to give the tannins a dry edge. (ST)

Very dark crimson. – still! Rich. Chocolatey. Velvety. Not unlike a bordeaux 1990. Very sweet start and then very slightly dry tannins on the finish. Not as succulent as the 1991. Dry and dusty on the finish. As though the grapes suffered quite a bit of drought. But good stuff. (JR)
This wine is just beginning to drink spectacularly well. The rustic, big, thick 1990 is Californian in its orientation. It is loaded with flavor, but the tannin is coarser when compared to the seamlessness of the 1991's. Tel. (707) 226-1395 and (800) MONDAVI; fax (707) 251-4386
