Tasting notes
The 2010 Wild Sauvignon Blanc leads with lanolin, linseed, crushed nuts, vanilla sponge cake, dried rose petals, pineapple husk and almond meal on the nose. The palate exactly follows the path set out by the aromas. Very fresh and vibrant with years to go. Viva la screw cap! Ripper.

More green and herbal on the nose compared with the 2009. Tight, youthful and so fresh. Marked varietal Sauvignon Blanc aromas, tighter fresher-tasting and less ripe than the 2009. Green-pea character. Mouth-watering. Great tension and spicy length. Really full-bodied. (JH)
Cold spring and variable set – with varied development in the vines right up to harvest but excellent conditions for the harvest itself. Very concentrated berries. High sugars and high pH. Some berries were retarded in their ripening and so were not as ripe. They had to wait to get the pH where they wanted it. Degree days slightly above the long-term average. Much more Sauvignon Blanc character on the nose than in some vintages. Green fig, wild herbs, sugar snap and citrus and just a little smoky. Tastes younger and crisper than the 2011. More lemon on the palate and some green fig but still has a mineral depth and texture. And a mealy cedary quality from the oak. Very long. Seems to have some sweetness on the finish (Judd acknowledged that the Wild Sauvignon often has a few grams of residual sugar). (JH)
(fermented in old barrels with wild yeast): Palish yellow. Sexy aromas of pineapple, pink grapefruit and peach lifted by an ineffable topnote of brown spices. Dense, spicy and deep, boasting terrific tensile strength and energy. Almost chardonnay-like in its textural richness but boasts superb grip, with the wine's harmonious acidity and sheer stuffing nicely buffering the oak component. Tactile, chewy and very long: this wine remained fresh in the re-capped bottle for days in my refrigerator. Compelling fruit-driven sauvignon.
