Solid red. Nice, fragrant, leafy topnote gives this wine (unlike so many others from the appellation) lift. Full, correct, without being overbearingly rich. Very Graves. (JR)

Consistently excellent as well as a reasonably good value, La Louviere’s 2001 possesses a deep plum/purple color in addition to soft, flavorful notes of cedar, smoked herbs, cherries, and black currants. Medium-bodied, elegant, and pure, it can be enjoyed over the next decade.
Very, very deep crimson. Fresh, lively and indisputably Graves. Quite gentle. Well formed. Great balance. (JR)

About the producer
Wine has been made at this estate since the 1300s, but its modern history begins when the Lurton family purchased it in 1965. The property was in disrepair, but the Lurtons have restored the château, winery and vineyards.
