Score 89/100 · Drink 2023-2030, Neal Martin, Aug 2023

The 2003 Ferrière has a pretty, estuarine nose with pain d'épices and allspice aromas. The palate is medium-bodied and well-balanced, with supple tannins, gentle grip and no over-ripeness. It has a slightly chewy but focused finish. Perfect to drink now. Tasted at the château.

Very dark, purplish crimson. Slightly gamey nose. Sweet and overripe notes. Lack of freshness. A bit heavy and then lots of oak on the finish. (JR)

Mid crimson with slightly smudgy rim. Very distinctive, slightly evolved nose with some toasty oak notes. Round, well-mannered, very Margaux. Fragrant and well made. No rough edges. Some freshness. A little dry on the finish but well done. Quite subtle. Neat. (JR)
