Score 86/100 · Drink 2022-2028, Neal Martin, Sep 2022

The 2002 Ferrière has a light wild strawberry, orange pith and gravel scented nose, not intense but quite pure. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, ferrous red fruit, a little dry and austere with a grippy, rather muscular dry finish. Tasted at the château.

Simple, jagged fruit. Some odd oak note? Thick. No silkiness. Awkward and jagged.  (JR)

Very deep crimson. Very scented. Rather supple and definitely Margaux-like. Slightly pinched oakiness on the finish. Lots of the Cabernets. Fifty per cent new oak and 20 months in cask, which is more than usual. (JR)

Very deep crimson. Looks sumptuous but doesn't smell of much. Very sharp, pointu palate impression, a bit pinched, with very marked dry tannins on the finish. Not one of the most opulent or perfumed Margaux but certainly very bold and very Cabernet Sauvignon. Rather Pauillac in a way. (JR)
