The 2008 Branas Grand Poujeaux has a tightly wound bouquet, more tertiary than expected. Tea leaf and bay scents filter through the dark berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with more elegant tannins than previous vintages, nicely proportioned with well integrated oak towards the finish. Drink now and over the next 3-5 years. Tasted at the Branas Grand Poujeaux vertical at the château.

Related to Ch Prieuré-Lichine. Some real concentration and a hint of oyster shells, ie something of interest! Good depth of fruit. Polished. Vigorous with sufficient fruit for the acidity. (JR)
