Tasting notes
The 2009 Barolo Bricco Boschis has shut down massively in bottle. A dark, hulking beauty, the Bricco Boschis hits the palate with huge density and pure power. So many 2009s give the impression of being early drinkers. Not here. The 2009 Bricco Boschis is going to require patience. How much is anyone's guess. This is the most backward bottle of the 2009 I have tasted so far.

Castiglione Falletto. Complete and quite evolved. Nicely balanced in a leaf-mould way. Really quite forward! Dry finish. (JR)
Sweet and slightly jammy. Gamey. Tough end. (JR)
Good full red. Slightly high-toned aromas of redcurrant, smoke and tobacco leaf. Ripe, chocolatey and sweet, showing good fat and a continuing high-toned quality in the mouth. Nicely concentrated but the big, dusty tannins are a bit more granular than those of the 2010. Classically dry, serious Barolo with a touch of alcoholic warmth.
