Pale rust red with a very pale rim. Light but fresh nose. Pretty low key aromatically initially but with a racy, refined texture and a perfume that grew in the glass. Laurent Ponsot loves the 1997s, apparently. Firm and quite rich and textured with light herbal and cumin notes. This seemed as though it had quite a lot of life left in it though it certainly isn't a blockbuster in terms of concentration. Very pleasing. (JR)
