Very good deep red. Pure, vibrant, soil-inflected nose offers raspberry, mocha and brown spices. Sweet and round but vinous, conveying more energy and power than the Clos-Saint-Denis. Not the last word in complexity but nicely detailed nonetheless, with notes of pepper, spices and dried flowers. The same wine from a used barrel seemed more suave and showed a firmer tannic spine.
