Tasting notes
A dark plum/ruby color is accompanied by dusty, earthy, sweet cherry, currant, smoke, and vanillin scents. A medium-bodied wine with moderate levels of tannin, admirable extract, and a linear personality, this 1996 possesses fine raw materials and good ripeness, but may turn out to be angular and austere given the elevated tannin level. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2012. This estate is on the qualitative rebound after some uninspiring efforts. I recently drank my last bottle of the 1982, which was still in fine shape.
