Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 2007 Bordeaux tasting. The 2007 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut Brion feels a little smudged on the nose, one that is missing the breeding and complexity of the first four Pessac-Léognan wines in this flight. The palate is medium-bodied, a little chewy in the mouth with dusky black fruit but missing length on the finish. It feels a bit like a car running on three pistons. Tasted March 2015.

Mid crimson. Pale rim. A hint of overripeness on the nose. Pretty dull on the mid palate and pinched, without enough juice. Muddy finish. (JR)

The first bottle I tasted was so low in aroma and lacking fruit I suspected low level TCA but the second bottle was definitely more aromatic and fruitier with some richness and subtlety. Still very firm. (JR)

64% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc. Dark glowing crimson. Very full, luscious ripe red fruit aromas. Then a little skinny and slightly tart on the palate. No great depth but perfectly pleasant. Just a bit scrawny towards the end. Very flattering nose and then a bit light on the palate. Decidedly inky, astringent finish. (JR)
