Oozing concentration, glycerin, and extract, the spectacular 1997 Hermitage Chevalier de Sterimberg is the size of a big, fat, succulent grand cru from Burgundy's Cote d'Or. Moreover, it will age for 15-20 years. Although this wine can be hard to understand when young, it becomes special with age. Importer: Frederick Wildman, New York, NY; tel. (212) 355-0700

Extravagant, roasted aromas of peach confiture, quince, acacia honey, grilled nuts and resiny spice. Voluminous and thick yet nicely delineated. The acidity kicks in on the back half, really carrying the fruit through a palate-staining finish. Has impressive grip for a white wine with 14% alcohol.
