Score 88/100 · Drink 1996-2010, Robert Parker, Jan 1997

The 1991 Chevalier de Sterimberg, a 45% Roussanne-55% Marsanne blend, was not put through malolactic fermentation as was the 1990. It did, however, spend two months in new oak casks. Rich, deep, and medium- to full-bodied, without the power and authority of the 1990, it possesses excellent richness, a honeyed nose and texture, and luscious flavors. These wines can last for decades, so I would not be surprised to see this offering hold up for 20 or more years. Anticipated maturity: now-2010. Last tasted 11/96.
