Tasting notes
Very good is the compelling 1998 Barolo Sori Ginestra. A dense, full-bodied, super-extracted, complex, multilayered Barolo, it exhibits aromas and flavors of tar, camphor, black cherry liqueur, smoke, minerals, and subtle new oak. Full and velvety-textured, with a 40-second finish, this large-scaled yet immensely elegant wine will drink beautifully between 2004-2018. Importer: Empson, USA, Alexandria, VA; tel. (703) 684-0900

Full deep red-ruby. Superripe aromas of raspberry, iron, lead pencil and tobacco, plus a faint roasted component. Large-scaled, sweet and stuffed with fruit; big underlying structure nicely covered by pliant flesh. Finishes with uncanny sweetness, some pungent oak tones, and lush, chewy tannins.
