Tasting notes
Monforte d'Alba. Very deep and dark with a light mulch of a nose. The fruit on the palate is less expressive in this austere wine set for the long term marked currently by chunky tannins. (JR)

The 1997 Barolo Sori Ginestra exhibits a deep ruby/purple color in addition to complex aromas of tobacco smoke and gloriously sweet, jammy cherry liqueur. Ripe, opulent, and full-bodied, with huge amounts of glycerin and extract, yet high tannin in the finish, this 1997 needs 4-5 years of cellaring, and should keep for 20+ years. This is a super-impressive Barolo. Importer: Empson, USA, Alexandria, VA; tel. (703) 684-0900
