Score 90/100 · Drink 1990-1998, Robert Parker, Jan 1990
The Pommard Le Clos Blanc is usually one of Gramont's finest wines, and has been absolutely marvelous in vintages such as 1985, 1979, and 1978. The 1988 is another success revealing a heady, intoxicating perfume, spicy oak, plum and berry-like fruitiness, and rich, alcoholic, muscular flavors. It is soft and supple with low acidity and should be consumed over the next 7-8 years. Gramont's 1988s are clearly his most successful overall vintage since 1985.
