These remarkable Collection Cases celebrate four of Chapoutier’s top cuvées, from the most desirable plots in Hermitage. These vineyards are some of the Northern Rhône’s finest – producing complex and age-worthy expressions of Syrah and Marsanne.
Each of the four cases is a vertical of one of Chapoutier’s iconic single-vineyard wines: Syrah from L’Ermite and Le Pavillon, and Marsanne from L’Orée and Le Méal. Spanning vintages from 2008 to 2017, these Collection Cases offer a rare chance to explore the expression of each terroir through a range of vintages – with each growing season bringing its own nuance.
On top of that, these are some of the most decorated wines ever made – many receiving 100 points from the Wine Advocate.
The six-bottle L’Ermite Rouge Collection Case contains a bottle of every vintage from 2012 to 2017. Seen as the jewel in Chapoutier’s crown, this 3.5-hectare plot sits at the very top of the Hermitage hill. Vines are over 80 years old, planted on poor granite soils. The wines are typically rounder and less structured than Le Pavillon Rouge. The 2017, 2015 and 2012 were all scored 100 points by the Wine Advocate. The 2016 was awarded 99, the 2014 97 and the 2013 96+ points. Jeb Dunnuck describes the 2012 “as profound an Hermitage as you can find”. The case contains six bottles (75cl), one each from the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 vintages.

The six-bottle Le Pavillon Rouge Collection Case contains one bottle of every vintage from 2008 to 2013. The wine comes from Chapoutier’s four-hectare plot of the “Les Bessards” vineyard at the top of the Hermitage hill. Vines are over 65 years old, planted on poor, granite soils. The wines are typically more mineral, tannic and structured than the rounder, plusher wines of L’Ermite. Le Pavillon 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 were all awarded 100 points by the Wine Advocate. The 2008 scored 93+ points and the 2013 received 98+ points. Robert Parker described the 2009 as “a perfect wine”. The case contains six bottles (75cl), one each from the 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 vintages.

The Le Méal Blanc Collection Case contains one bottle of every vintage from 2012 to 2017. The wine comes from Chapoutier’s two-hectare parcel of old Marsanne vines in the warmest part of Hermitage, grown on alluvial soils with large pebbles that helps heat the soil and retain heat. This vineyard produces a wine with incredible textural richness, balanced by saline mineral notes. It is one of the world’s most complex white wines. The 2015 and 2013 both received 100 points from the Wine Advocate, while the rest sit in the high 90s. Jeb Dunnuck describes the 2013 as “pure perfection in a glass”. The case contains six bottles (75cl), one each from the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 vintages.
