From the celebrated Champagne house of Maison Taittinger and Hatch Mansfield comes the second release of Domaine Evremond English Sparkling Wine. Nestled in Kent, the Garden of England, Domaine Evremond is planted across 70 hectares with all three classic Champagne varieties. This release has a little more Pinot Noir, at 65%, alongside 25% Chardonnay and 10% Meunier. After spending three years on the lees, it is finished with a 7 g/l dosage. This second release shows greater richness and concentration than the first. Based around the 2021 harvest, at times a challenging year, it is complemented by reserve wines from 2020 and 2019. Despite the challenges of the vintage, Evremond has truly stepped up to the plate, delivering beautiful concentration and depth. The nose opens with a classic, almost unmistakably Taittinger-esque hint of smoke, leading into distinctly Kentish aromas of crisp apples, pears and fleshy stone fruit. On the palate, it begins light and floral before developing a comforting warmth and an almost tropical fruit character through the mid-palate. The finish brings a satisfying richness and depth, leaving you wanting just “one” more mouthful.

…., I tasted Domaine Evremond's spectacular 'Edition 2 ', which in itself is a stunning , expansive and unmistakably grand wine. It is hard to believe, but it builds considerably on the first release, and I can't explain why or how it has gathered so much finesse.
Second release of this Taittinger project in Kent, this time 80% based on the cooler, wetter 2021 vintage rather than the 2020. Rounded out by some 2020 and a little 2019. A bit more Pinot Noir this time, 65% rather than the debut release’s 55%. Chardonnay portion reduced from 35% to 25%. Each cuvée contains 10% Pinot Meunier, is aged three years on lees and has a dosage of 7 g/l, but of course this second edition has presumably benefited from a year’s more vine age. Surprisingly rich, creamy nose – a nod to Comtes de Champagne?! Much broader than Edition I, arguably less refreshing in fact, but a wine for food perhaps? (It’s not to be released for a few months.) So ripe, I’m not sure I would guess it was English if served it blind. The nose is already quite complex – amazingly so for an unreleased wine!

A joint venture between Hatch Mansfield and Champagne Taittinger, Domaine Evremond is one of England’s most exciting producers. In 2015, the team purchased land in Chilham, Kent, previously home to apple and pear orchards. Planting started in 2017 and the first wine was released in 2025.
