Tasting notes
This is relatively dark. This stains the glass and there is a hint of pencil-box on the nose. A touch of cassis in the mouth and there is a definite Lafite character to this. The cassis carries through to the end. The best Carruades in years. Joss Fowler, FINE+RARE, April 2015.

The 2014 Carruades de Lafite has a light, earthy, attic-scented bouquet that just needs more fruit to counter the earthy aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, balanced and fresh tannins, though it tapers and dries towards the finish. Drink now. Tasted non-blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.
Medium to full intensity in colour. These were the years when Carruades was getting a whole lot of love, from the market and from the winemaking team, and this is an excellent quality wine, with balance and Pauillac typcity. Expect crayon and crushed rocks alongisde savoury and juicy cassis and bilberrt fruits, a deepening through mid-palate compared to the Carruades of the previous decade, now at a good moment to drink. It's not exuberant, rather expect a slow-release trick, much as you often do with Lafite itself.
