Score 92-94/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2018

(aged in 100% new oak): Bright ruby. Black fruits and musky leathery reduction on the nose, lifted by pungent spicy oak. A distinctly backward style and harder to taste today than the Mazis, but displaying obvious black fruit intensity, complicating saline minerality and excellent inner-mouth lift. Clearly needs the aeration of a racking. This very suave, fine-grained wine is more about soil than primary fruits and will need extended cellaring to fully express itself.
