2016 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir 0,75l Louis Michel

Notes of Meyer lemon, oystershell, crisp pear and subtle reduction introduce the 2016 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir, a medium to full-bodied, pure and structured wine with serious concentration and chewy extract that compensates for what it lacks in acidic cut. It's the most ample and giving of the three grand cru bottlings in the Louis Michel cellar this year, but it remains quite classic in profile.

Light-medium yellow. Ripe yellow stone fruits and a touch of smoke on the nose, which struck me as more Côte de Beaune than Chablis. Fat, sweet and deep, in a very ripe, almost exotic style, with soft citrus and ripe yellow stone fruit flavors dominating. Then more classic on the back end, finishing with a stony firmness. This fruit was picked late at 12.4% potential alcohol and chaptalized to 13%.
