Tasting notes
The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Argillats 1er Cru is much more understated on the nose, eschewing the mark of the warm summer. It has what you might call a "cooler" nose compared to others. There are some clever and beneficial stem additions here. The palate is powerful and bullish, not a Pinot of subtlety, and it feels just a little "made" on the finish. An NSG that needs to learn some manners. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Mid crimson. Correct with pace and fruit intensity but just a little stolid, and masses of tannin. A hint of sourness too. (JR)
Among the richer, more dramatic wines in the range is the 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Argillats, a fleshy, velvety, medium to full-bodied wine that exhibits notes of cherries, ripe berries, licorice, spices and rose petals. There's more amplitude here, but its communal-level sibling may well surpass it with a decade in bottle.
