1992 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-Saint-Vivant Marey Monge***

(from a magnum opened at the Domaine). Mild bricking. A noticeably floral nose of now mature and mostly secondary fruit that displays a distinct stemmy character along with a hint of mint that is picked up by the supple, round and relatively open middle weight flavors that are easy to like if not especially complex, all wrapped in a slightly drying finish of reasonable length. Like the vintage, this is perfectly good but not genuinely special and I would be drinking this up over the next decade, even in this format as it risks drying out in time. Soft and supple, but very light and diluted. Offers modest fruit flavors with brown sugar and herbal accents. Not much to taste. A brownish edge signals that this is maturing quickly. Drink up fast. Wine Spectator May 15, 1995
