Tasting notes
71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot. 35% new oak for 12 months. Smudgy crimson with pink rim and doesn’t seem much more youthful looking than the 2014. Ripe cassis with a slight leafy note. Chewy tannins and juicy fruit give a sweet-sour effect but there’s lots of fruit at the core. Not particularly persistent. (JH)

The medium garnet-purple colored 2015 du Retout has a black plums, tar and rubber nose with a waft of sage. The palate offers a good amount of fruit with a chewy frame and some spices coming through on the finish.
The 2015 Château Du Retout is a forward, delicious effort offering perfumed notes of strawberries, framboise and mint. Drink this soft, fruit forward effort over the coming 4-5 years.
71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot. Rich, sweet wine with unusual cumin scents (because of unusual oak?). Delivers with real focus but far from stereotypical. (JR)
