Tasting notes
The 2021 Valandraud Blanc is a medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy wine bursting with aromas of orchard fruit, confit citrus and pastry cream. As ever, it's one of the fatter, more textural white wines produced in Bordeaux, even in this cooler vintage.

The 2016 Valandraud Blanc has a clean, precise bouquet of lemon thyme and a touch of apricot, very pretty and perfumed. The palate is well balanced with a saline, lemongrass-tinged opening. There is good depth here, as well as a slightly waxy texture and a spicy finish. Fine. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
Tasted blind. Rather sweaty nose and pretty heavy and full – though not aggressively Sauvignon. A bit old fashioned but perhaps nothing wrong with that. Bit of alcohol, and some length. (JR)
