Score 96-98/100 · Drink 2026-2050, Neal Martin, Jan 2023

The 2021 Chambertin Grand Cru is represented by three barrels this year, two new, with 50% whole bunches (pédicelles) . It has superb mineralité and tension, full of electricity and breeding. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, very harmonious with a silky texture, pixelated on the finish that feels so pure and ethereal. Simply, one of the best Chambertins in this vintage.

The 2021 Chambertin Grand Cru is lovely, wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet wild berries, vine smoke, orange zest, peonies and spices, framed by a deft application of classy new oak. Full-bodied, sensual and seamless, with supple tannins that frame a layered mid-palate, it concludes with a long, perfumed finish.
