Gentle oak, light oxidative note and amazing creamy marzipan flavour. Savoury cereal and hay on the finish. Highly textured – not crisp or acidic, so very different to the vogue white style of the day. Full-bodied, fat and fleshy and proud of it. (RH)

Excellent peppery meaty scent, but so delicate and dainty! So gentle, so lifted – but with a real core of flavour. Has everything you’d hope for from a prestigious name. (RH)

Big and mealy. Broad. Beeswax. Slight decay in a nice way. Honey and off dry. Too fat for the tartare of mackerel, smoked oysters and caviar served with it. (JR)
