From Kate Dugdale's cellar, decanted on the morning of the tasting. Smudgy browning garnet. Aromatic and meaty. Decadent but a bit raisiny/oxidised. Chewy, meaty in the mouth. The tannins have stayed resistant but the fruit has not kept pace. (JH)

Lots of fine sediment in a still concentrated, dark ruby wine. Very sweet indeed – so sweet that when it was served blind I took it for a southern Rhone. Very round and spicy. A little past its peak but still impressive. (JR)

Dark ruby. Not a great bottle. Dull, slightly sour. Not much fruit there. Shame as this should be a great wine. But this is the first dud bottle. (JR)

Noticeably sweet and rich and still with that trademark concentration though with a peppery note on this wine. Markedly long, rich finish. (JR)
