Made by Dorothy Guimaraens, Frank G’s daughter, who ran the company in the 1930s before it was absorbed into Taylor’s. Very clear, bright, pale garnet. Intense, high-toned nose. Strongly fruity still. Lots of fruit with an orange-peel edge and quite marked acidity. Still very much alive. A real essence of port with some walnut notes on the end. A fascinating wine that still has much to give. The revelation of the tasting and the one port closest to its peak on the day. (JR)
