Hot, dry year. Thunderstorms in early September rescued the vintage. 14-15 Baumé so very ripe. Small yields. Declared by 26 shippers. Considered one of the most underrated vintages. This wine has been opened for only three hours and some old hands thought it probably needed a bit more time. Dark ruby. Dried fruit and nuts on the nose. Some zestiness. No stickiness but lovely smooth texture and appetizing quality. Very sweet but good refreshing raciness. Hint of rancio. So vibrant! (JR)
