From the Magrez family, the 2008 Château La Tour Carnet is complex and fully mature, with attractive notes of spice, roasted herbs, dried herbs, and some dusty minerality. Medium-bodied, fresh and lively on the palate, with an impressive texture, there's a savory edge that makes me think this is best drunk up, but it's delicious.

The 2008 La Tour Carnet has a very open and expressive bouquet with boysenberry, raspberry preserve and light stewed fig aromas evolving with aeration. “Punchy” is the word that springs to mind. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, grainy tannin, a little chewy in the mouth with just a touch of leafiness towards the austere finish. Not bad, although I cannot see it going anywhere. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 10-Year On tasting.

Tasted blind. Mid garnet. Savoury nose with lots of freshness. Masses of chew. Maybe a little light. But correct! (JR)
