The 2013 Barolo Riserva Rocche dell'Annunziata emerges from Corino's oldest parcel and also gets a bit more new oak. I would give the 2013 another few years in bottle to soften, although I imagine the oak imprint will always be strong. Sweet floral and spice notes begin to emerge with time in the glass. As good as the 2013 is, it would be nice to see the Riserva showing more site specific character.

The 2013 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is fabulous. Knock-out aromatics, silky tannins and voluptuous fruit are some of the signatures. This is another young Barolo that is drinking almost too well for such a young wine. Today, the flavors are quite primary and the wine is dense, but there is certainly a lot to look forward to. The tannins are present, yet very nicely integrated for a young Barolo. This is a terrific Barolo in the making.
La Morra. Tasted blind. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Sweet oak nose with cherry fruit underneath, but very well judged. Youthful, juicy cherry fruit with notes of sweet oak on the finish. Needs time to come together. The oak has added a touch of dry tannins on the finish. (WS)
