Tasting notes
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Aux Beaux Bruns 1er Cru is completely de-stemmed due to the warm calcaire soils in this vineyard according to Arnaud Mortet. It has airy, bright red cherry and strawberry fruit that is utterly charming and surprisingly open. The palate is fresh and mineral-driven on the entry, moderate depth with a light grip, a pleasant and almost "easy-going" Chambolle-Musigny that maybe just need a little more density on the finish.

Offering up aromas of cherries, raspberries and ripe plums, the 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Aux Beaux Bruns is medium to full-bodied, ample and generous, with a less lively, flatter profile than Mortet's best successes in this vintage. For my money, there's more excitement to be found in his Gevrey-Chambertin collection.
