Rather leesy aromas of iodine, ginger candy, nutmeg and smoky oak. Intense, penetrating and dominated by ginger and allspice, showing modest flesh today. Finishes long but lean and tight, with a citrus hint and very strong spice flavors. In need of at least a few years of patience.

The 2002 Beaune Clos des Mouches offers a nose of vanilla, fresh herbs, ginger, and spices. Medium-bodied, fleshy, spicy, and plush, it has excellent to outstanding depth. Sappy minerals dominate this effort’s flavor profile. Projected maturity: now-2010. Importer: Dreyfus Ashby, New York, NY; tel. (212) 818-0770
