2010 Mazis-Chambertin GC 1,5l Domaine Faiveley

Good deep red. Reduced aromas of game and silex reminded me of a Corton grand cru. Fat and sweet but a bit monolithic today compared to the Latricieres, without quite the same impression of inner-palate energy of delineation. Best today on the very long, thick, unflagging finish. This very large-scaled wine still needs more elevage .

A very deeply pitched nose that displays fresh red and dark berry fruit and floral aromas along with notes of the sauvage that continue over to the serious and very solidly structured big-bodied flavors. This is an impressively scaled wine yet the supporting tannins are relatively fine though quite dense and as such, the overall impression is one of robust power even if it is refined in its delivery. This is going to require a long cellar stay but it should be magnificent when it finally emerges. Allen Meadows, Burghound.com
