Tasting notes
The 2012 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes reveals a youthful bouquet of rose petal, raspberry and ripe cherry, framed by nicely integrated new oak. On the palate, the wine is supple, medium-full and creamily textural, with impressive mid-palate depth and structural seriousness for this often rather facile climat. My only reservation is that this is certainly overtly ripe, and some liqueured notes emerge as it sits in the glass; if it's just in an awkward phase, my score will look conservative in a few years.

A bit indistinct on the nose with sweetness and ripe berries on the palate but less definition than the Marsannay arguably! Wait for this perhaps. At the moment it's a tad dull. (JR)
(domain wine): Bright medium red. Sexy aromas of raspberry and chocolate accented by pepper and herbs. Juicy and intense, with harmonious acidity giving cut and energy to the raspberry and floral flavors. Finishes firm and vibrant, with very good lift.
The 2012 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes is striking in its beauty. Fresh, vibrant and beautifully layered, the 2012 boasts gorgeous depth and inner perfume, not to mention terrific overall balance. Bright saline notes support the tense, salivating finish. All the elements fall into place in a striking, absolutely impeccable wine.
