Tasting notes
The king of the cellar is the 2020 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, a terrific wine in the making that opens in the glass with aromas of pear, orange oil, wheat toast, beeswax, pastry cream and freshly baked bread. Full-bodied, layered and elegantly muscular, it's fleshy but precise, with superb cut and concentration, concluding with a long, chalky finish.

80-year-old vines of Jean-Marc Morey. Deliberately early picked. Cask sample. Real freshness and zip for a Bâtard (the early picking no doubt); concentration and showing little Bâtard fat – lean, concentrated and athletic. (MH)
